St. Timothy’s ECW
by Hillary Gaebler
A new opportunity is now at St. Timothy’s. It is called ECW for short; the longer name is St. Timothy’s Episcopal Church Women. This organization is for ALL the women of St. Tim’s. Where did it come from? Many Episcopal churches have an ECW. If you look at the webpage of the national organization (www.nationalecw.org) you will find the following definition: We are Episcopal Church Women of all ages, ethnic origins and socioeconomic backgrounds who hold a variety of views. However, the common denominator of our members is love of God and the wish to do His work. What is the ECW Vision? Our Vision for all women of the Episcopal Church is that we become a vibrant blend of all ages, coming together as a peacemaking, healing part of the Church. We aspire to be a Godspark –shining and sharing the Love of Christ. How did this start at St. Tim’s? A few women who belonged to Crafters for Community Care found they missed the fellowship they shared while they worked on their craft projects. Realizing that “crafting” wasn’t the only way to achieve this special spiritual friendship, the St. Tim’s ECW was started. The hope for the St. Tim’s ECW is threefold: to provide an opportunity of community, the gathering for all of the women of St. Tim’s; to offer opportunities for additional spiritual enrichment; and, to be Christ’s hands in the world.
